What is Hyper-V™ ?

Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2 is a micro-kernelized hypervisor which manages a server’s system resources when hosting virtualized guests. Server virtualization allows you to provide a virtualized environment for operating systems and applications. When used alone, Hyper-V is typically used for server virtualization. When Hyper-V is used in conjunction with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Hyper-V is used for client virtualization.
